Angela Harmon

Who is my idol you ask?  Mary Poppins! She is absolutely perfect. I have such a fond memory as a child of watching Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke bring magic to the screen through dance and song.  Although Mary Poppins first aired 20 years before I was born, that era of big bands, tap dancing, and swing rings true to my core.

When the swing craze returned in the late 90's, I was in my element!   My brother, Dave Harmon, started teaching ballroom and swing lessons with his new company, Harmon DanceWorks (now known as Harmon Entertainment), and soon asked if I would like to co-teach.  That was my life changing window!  Since the age of 19, I have been dancing and teaching dance everywhere I can.   Whether it was the Mexican Hat Dance with the MSUM Heritage Dancers, Line Dancing in Dallas, performing the Evolution of Dance at Fargo's Bridal Show, or doing Salsa and Bachata, it didn't matter, I was dancing and happy!

In 2007, I met my husband in Las Uvas, Dominican Republic.  He was the backyard neighbor of my host family while I was volunteering with the Peace Corps.  He truly was the other half of my naranja.  We quickly fell in love and decided to marry before returning to the states.  The wedding was like nothing I could have dreamed of as a young girl, it was way better!   Imagine an old open air discoteca (Dance Club), mosaic art decorating the entry way and pillars, white lights hanging from the dome-shaped tin roof that protected the dance floor from tropical rains, and hand-made lanterns on every table.  It was simple but beautiful.  The reception was incomparable to anything Dominicans had ever seen before.  With our choreographed dances and an impromptu Lindy Hop show, our wedding was the talk of the town for many years to come.

Since moving back to Bismarck in 2009, our family and responsibilities have multiplied.  We have two darling daughters and successful careers, me as a Spanish teacher at Mandan High School and he as a Welder for Bobcat.   In addition, we have had the true pleasure of bringing Latin Dance and Ballroom back to the Bismarck/Mandan community.  You can find us every first and third Friday at the Harvest Brazilian Grill teaching social dances and DJing the night away.

I have always loved creating positive experiences and memories for others.  It is my absolute pleasure to be working with Harmon Entertainment in creating unforgettable weddings and receptions.   I am looking forward to collaborating with you in creating "your special day", the most personal and extraordinary memory of your lifetime.
